Beach Session - The Ellis Family

Amy & Chris are good friends of the Meyers Family. After seeing the results of Brad and Rebecca's shoot from the summer, Amy contacted me a few weeks ago about shooting a session for some family photos (and maybe a Christmas card or two).

Having never shot a cold-weather beach session (and, it was cold for this part of the country!), I wasn't sure what to expect. Considering that I was shooting in Va Beach, VA, where I've never shot before, I was even more unsure. But, the location and lighting (and lack of wind) were just about perfect, and I couldn't be happier with how these shots came out!

Although the two boys didn't care much for my camera, I was able to capture some great candid shots of their hole-digging adventures, and 8-year old Carly was nothing short of awesome!

Thanks to the Ellis family for your warm smiles on a cold day, and for leading me to this awesome location! (if you get down on your knees and beg, I might tell you where to find it!)

Preview - The Ellis Family

I'm nearly done editing my shoot from this past week with the Ellis family. Here are a few photos to preview until the family gets to see the rest of the shots first!

Beach Sesson - The Lawrenson Family

It's been well over a year since my family has been together (see our last photo session)...I haven't seen my sister, Sarah (with the red hair) and her husband since then...hopefully it won't be that long again before we have another family photo session! These photos were taken in late November, on a beautiful day, at the Nags Head Pier.

Autumn Colors

It's been a while since I posted some new photos here...trying to get back in the swing of things.

Although I strongly dislike the end of summer and the onset of cool weather, it's impossible to not love the colors of the autumn season. My daughter and I recently visited with some family and friends in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. We took advantage of the unseasonably warm day and the scenery to shoot a few photos...

Client Comments

I can't thank you enough for the photo session. The choices were almost overwhelming since you took so many. I'm amazed each time I look at the photos I see different things I appreciate. Accommodating 5 families with 4 kids under 4 is no easy feat, yet the way Nathan coordinated the shoot, no one got restless.

We had a few great teaser photos e-mailed to us within 36 hours, and it was great that Nathan delivered the disk with all of the photos right to our beach house again. It could not have run more smoothly and I don't think he could have done any better. Nathan exceeded my expectations.

The cost was very affordable and it provides my entire family a lifelong memory of a most perfect vacation with several generations. It truly is a once in a lifetime gift I'll treasure and I thank you for being a part of it. I would be happy and proud to highly recommend your services to anyone that asks.

We are so happy with our photos! Nathan has such a unique point of view and style with the camera. It was a very comfortable, natural and fun shoot for us and the children. He captured so many tender moments and perspectives that will make for lasting memories. We were surprised and excited to view the photos so quickly and overall it was a great experience!

What a great experience! Our whole family really enjoyed the photo shoot, and despite the fact that our two boys wouldn’t really cooperate, Nathan continued to photograph them and ended up with some really awesome shots! He was very patient with all of us and the whole photo shoot seemed very natural and relaxed which is exactly what I wanted! Nathan is incredibly talented, patient and very good with the children!

He was able to quickly fit us into his schedule, delivered the photos to us within a few days, and I was really happy with the outcome. There were plenty of shots to choose from and many different angles and photo compositions. We really enjoyed meeting Nathan and will definitely be contacting him again. Thank you for doing such a great job and helping us capture this point of our lives!

Wedding Bells for Jessica Claire!

Just taking a moment out of my normal schedule to say congratulations to one of the sweetest and most awesomely talented photographers ever, Jessica Claire. Today is Jessica's wedding day, and I for one can't wait to see the photos of her incredibly unique and, I'm sure, beautiful wedding. You may remember that Jessica blessed us with a beautiful gift of a photo shoot (Here) just after Tricia was discharged from her transplant surgery...we treasure those photographs for many reasons, and are so thankful for Jessica's heart and her friendship.

Have a totally awesome day, Jessica!

Beach Session - The Carmichael Family

Karen has been following the story of my wife and daughter for a while now...she and her family decided to vacation on the OBX this summer and invited me for a photo shoot. Big families are fun and challenging, but the weather was perfect (and cool for August), and the beach in front of their rental house couldn't have provided a better location.

The great-grandkids...

Low tide is perfect for walking along the water...and the reflection makes for a great photo.

From experience, I can tell you that there is nothing better than kisses from your daughter(s).

Wet sand, sea shells and little feet make for a beautiful shot...

Love the expression on dad's face...

Lots of mist in the air thanks to Hurricane Bill...didn't give us much sunlight, but still great for wide shots...

One of my favorite shots from the evening...

Thanks Carmichael family for a great shoot! Have an awesome vacation, and a safe trip home!

Tell me which is your favorite photo from this shoot!
